English Language Arts (ELA) Contractor

About the Role

We are looking for a contractor who has a deep understanding of Common Core English Language Arts standards in grades 4 through 8 to assign standards and quality tags to open education resources and align standards for assessments. This work will be used to clean and curate the resources in Gooru’s open education library for K12 students in the United States. This is an independent contractor role for 10 to 30 hours per week. Graduate and post- graduate students are encouraged to apply.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assign standards and quality tags to open education resources (OERs) for CCSS ELA
  • Verify the correctness and standards for assessments for all CCSS ELA standards grades 4-8 
  • Ensure that all resources and assessments are student- and teacher-friendly, high quality, and promote student learning

About You

We are looking for someone who embodies our ideals and values, who is passionate about education and understands that collaboration is what builds and scales success.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong background in English Language Arts, ideally in the K12 space
  • Familiarity with Common Core English Language Arts standards (particularly grades 4-8)
  • High attention to detail
  • Comfortable assigning standards to online educational resources
  • Comfortable critiquing ELA assessments in the K12 space
  • Experience teaching or tutoring ELA is a plus but not required
